MAC Address

Data-link-layer address of a network interface, typically 48 bits long. Used primarily for local Ethernet and Wi-Fi communication. MAC addresses are often assigned at manufacture but can be changed, virtualized or randomized for privacy, so they are not tamper-proof serial numbers.
